A rhinoplasty, or nose job, alters the shape and appearance of the nose. Most commonly, bumps on the top of the nose are shaved or a widened tip is narrowed to create a better proportion to the rest of the face. Nasal breathing can be improved when structural problems inside the nose create breathing disturbances. Insurance will usually cover functional problems, such as difficulty breathing or sinus issues. Cosmetic changes to the nose are usually not covered but can be done at the same time as functional improvements. Nasal surgery (if not covered by insurance) will cost $3000-7000, and expected down-time is 7-10 days.
